The Commonwealth Distance Learning Scholarships have been awarded to the University of Leicester!

The Commonwealth Distance Learning Scholarships have been awarded to the University by the Commonwealth Scholarship Commission in the UK (CSC).  The scholarships are to pursue the MSc in Risk, Crisis and Disaster Management (RCDM) by Distance Learning at the Civil Safety and Security Unit. Dr Nibedita Ray-Bennett, a member of our team as well as a Lecturer in Risk Management at School of Management, the University of Leicester won the scholarships for the University.

Applicants are required to submit an application to the CSC by 23:59 British Summer Time (BST) on the 3rd May 2016.

One of our team members is leading new international project on reducing unsafe abortion death rates

One of our team members, Dr Nibedita S Ray-Bennett, has just started an international collaborative project on reducing unsafe abortion death rates in Bangladesh and Pakistan. The project which is supported by the International Planned Parenthood Federation’s (IPPF) Innovation Programme will explore the opportunities and challenges around reproductive health during disasters and emergencies in the both disaster prone countries. Dr Nibedita S Ray-Bennett and her team will look into the sexual and reproductive health issues in disaster-prone areas during times of humanitarian crisis.

Vacancy for a Research Assistant, University of Leicester

Civil Safety and Security, School of Management, University of Leicester is seeking for a Research Assistant.

The appointed person will work on the research project ‘Exploring Challenges and Opportunities for Reproductive Health in Disasters in Bangladesh and Pakistan’ funded by the International Planned Parenthood Federation (IPPF). For details, please see the PDF file.
